Chapter 4
It was winter, the days were short, cold, and damp. We celebrated the rains that filled our wells with water and made the green of our crops shine.
Grandma had come to visit a few days before. She had taken the upstairs room, bringing along a couple of small bags. One with a few extra clothes and the other with some plants, seeds, talismans, and small crafts she had made for the children.
The rain continued to fall, and we began to miss the sun, its warmth, and joy. When melancholy had settled in each of us, Grandma stopped telling us stories about birds, frogs, and flowers. That afternoon, she gave us that especially compassionate smile. We immediately knew what kind of story she was going to tell us.
«There are those who leave behind shame and guilt by choosing to believe that the reasons guiding their actions are justified. These people consider their beliefs and goals more important than the pain others feel as a result of their actions. There are even those who take pleasure in being the cause of that pain. Pride has taken root in these beings.
There are those who forget the sadness of guilt and shame by avoiding thinking about them. They build cages of feeling and pretend they have disappeared. This is a defense mechanism, to simply survive.
Humanity is an expert at building cages. The human psyche has developed this mechanism by locking away a great deal of traumatic memories in order to continue accessing joy and regaining hope.
It doesn’t realize that these cages themselves generate trauma. These painful emotions haven’t disappeared, haven’t been transformed, nor have they served as a lesson because they are encapsulated. They continue to vibrate pain and, being compressed in that confinement, become stronger, poisoning the vital energy to the point of creating physical illnesses and psychological imbalances.
As is clear, denying, avoiding, or justifying are not useful for transforming pain into harmony and peace.
The only way to transmute fundamental darkness and fully shine the inherent light of our being is by accepting. Accepting that the density we gave and received was exactly what needed to happen. Accepting that reality without judgment, complaint, shame, or guilt.
Only then is it possible to activate the original light within us. Accepting the shine. Leaving behind pride, the fear of not being enough, the guilt of shining more than others, or the shame of being different.
From that immense light, to which we belong, every reaction becomes a creation of light and everything and everyone touched by the light is consequently and inevitably brighter.
Each of our reactions is decisive. The reaction to external stimuli is the key to changing the pattern drawn in the web, in the great mantle of existence.
Every light that starts to shine and expand, every manifestation touched by that light that now reflects light and learns to shine, is evidence that we are on the way back home.»
-Once again, we all fell silent. And she, smiling, added:
«Have a good journey!»
